Northwest Florida State
Parks
The Florida panhandle is home to some
of the most beautiful parks and recreational areas in
the state. The emerald waters gently lap at our
snowy-white sand beaches, which are flanked by towering,
sea-oat covered dunes. Incredibly clear spring-fed
rivers and creeks meander slowly to the gulf, inviting
one to have a lazy day and escape the world's hectic
pace. Towering mixed pine/hardwood forests present a
panorama of watchable wildlife and plants. In fact, all
of our habitats contain rare species for watching and
wonderment, such as pitcher plants, sea turtles,
red-cockaded woodpeckers, St. John's Wort plants, and
endangered beach mice. Prehistoric sturgeon ply our
rivers, and bald eagles part our skies. We invite you to
enjoy outdoor NW Florida, and through enjoyment come to
appreciate our natural surroundings and the importance
of preserving it. |
